Grace Series- The silhouetted hands are those of Hannah and God, with the foetus depicting Samuel, the gift at the centre of the story. There is deliberate ambiguity whether God is giving Hannah the child or receiving with open arms
Grace Series- Depicting the sycamore- fig tree that Zacchaeus climbed to see Jesus, the shape is based on the only standing sycamore tree in Jericho today. The sun and concentric circles of sky represent the Son of God leading the eye towards the tree where a small sinner began his encounter and transformation.
Journey Series- This door depicts the “ark” that God told Noah to build & represents the place (wherever that may be) that God has shut us in, for our own protection, safety & sanctuary. On the door is the faint imprint of the cross. The door is locked, but the key is held by He who is love, and who loves us. seen in nearby undergrowth.
Journey Series- whichever path I choose, will be the one where God is with me. If it is the wrong one, then there will be ways of changing direction along the way; dead ends, shortcuts to other paths; places on my journey where other paths intersect. God is with us wherever we go.
Journey Series- This piece reminds us that our life journey should be an adventure; a trek; an exploration. So often we try to go it alone, forgetting to rely on the strength that God provides, forgetting He is our compass.
Journey Series- 4 blocks of colours represent the cyclical seasons, & seasons in our lives. The beading & stitching give movement & rhythm for we are meant to dance on our way, enjoying the journey. The black & rainbow thread is our journey through life & the red thread, depicts our heartbeat & God's heart throughout all creation.
Journey Series- Sometimes we feel out of control; caught in the flow of life, propelled along paths we've not chosen. Yet often when we let go of wanting always to be in charge, trusting Jesus, the Faithful One for His provision & presence, we can learn to enjoy the flow.
Journey Series- "If we say that we live by the Spirit", then we are encouraged us to “walk by the Spirit” and be “led by the Spirit”. The result of doing so is fruit in our lives…. the beautiful fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, 9 fused glass pieces sticthed to the surface.
Journey Series- Depicting the year’s journey, spiralling to the centre of myself & the centre of God then ascending rapidly out into the only way forward…into the world, hopefully with the strength to walk alongside & minister to others on their journeys. There is a golden thread alongside the spiral pathway, representing Jesus, the companion who walks beside us
Journey Series- Swirls of colour depict the my own journey of going around in circles; the intersecting pathways behind are those of parts of other people’s journeying. Where my journey crosses the paths of others there is a small crystal, depicting the desire to shine the light of Christ into the lives of those I meet.
Journey Series- As I overlooked these well-trodden muddy paths intersecting across the grass, I thouht how like The Cross they looked& also reminded me of the following passage in Jeremiah 6:16 This is what the Lord says: ‘Stand at the crossroads & look; ask for the ancient paths...
Journey Series- portrays contemplative travelling; learning how to follow, obey, receive, encounter & give love & light along the way. The grey background depicts the ordinariness of our lives.
